Vapour Blasting

Vapour Blasting / Wet Blast.

We have heavily invested in our Vapour Blast cabinet designed and manufactured in the UK for professional use. The cabinet is loaded with features and capable of handling anything from a small carburettor to the biggest motorcycle engine. Our process uses a water and glass bead slurry mixture of a particular ratio blasted at the component. The water acts as a shock absorber and lubricates the particles on impact allowing very fine finishes to be produced without damage to the part .

Our vapour blasting process is suitable for Non ferrous metals such as Aluminum, Bronze, Brass, Copper, Magnesium, Titanium. It will gently clean the surface with zero damage unlike dry blasting which is somewhat more aggressive in its nature.

With the main core of our works for the restoration of mainly motorcycle parts we are also very happy to take on sub-contract works from machine shops of their milled and CNC parts. We are happy to take one singular part or multiple parts.

Beside is a rare section of a Ford Escort rally gearbox from the seventies. It’s a modified component from a highly regarded gearbox specialist who supplies these unique gearboxes all over Europe.

Below is a perfect example of the delicate nature of our vapour blasting process. These before and after pictures show just how good the results are from vapour blasting. There is absolutely zero damage to any area of these 1978 Suzuki GS1000 pistons. After these parts were treated the piston measurements were taken to check that they were within the manufacturers tolerances. They were found to be in exceptional condition and within tolerance ready for engine rebuild.

Here is a tremendous example of a pair of BMW cylinders. Having had years of road grime thrown at them they have came up a treat.

The Process for You.

We treat each and every individual job as a completely new project.  Your project is what matters so we do exactly what is required by you. Having said that, if you’re not sure of your needs we can guide and discuss what is required. We will of course Vapour blast to a professional standard. We look at every job with the best intention whether that be a full de-grease and paint stripping service prior to blasting or simply just the Vapour blasting process.

What do I need to do?

We’re often asked this and again every job is different, however there is a few things that we recommend. These keep the cost down for you as we all know time is money. The best way for us to keep those costs to a minimum is to be able to go straight to the Vapour blast process. If your items are prepared with removal of all bearings and fully de-greased that’s about it. Cylinder heads will need all valve train equipment removed. Basically, if you can do it, you will save. We are however able to do all of the pre-works for you if necessary.

Can you do a complete engine?

Very simple answer. NO we do not do complete engines. Every engine must be striped.

De-grease and Paint Removal.

We can offer a de-grease and paint removal service prior to your vapour blasting. Quite a few engines require de-greasing and stripping of paints prior to the vapour blasting process which is too delicate to remove paint. Gone are the old fashioned proper paint strippers available to the the general public, however we have something for paint stripping that meets them old style strippers, the paints literally boil of the surface.
